Astaxanthin has a powerful role in nature that TruAzta™ captures better than any other product.

Microalgae have been on Earth for billions of years. These organisms have honed adaptation and survival tools over the millennia as they encountered changing conditions. Haematococcus pluvialis, the strain of algae that produces TruAzta natural astaxanthin, generates astaxanthin as a natural defense mechanism in response to environmental stresses. Having had the ability to perfect this production over time, microalgae such as H. pluvials have become expert micro-production systems.

The result? The production of astaxanthin by H. pluvialis allows it to survive up to 40 years under conditions that would be otherwise inhospitable.

Longevity

TruNature-Flamingo
When Flamingos feed on these microalgae, not only do their feathers take on their striking red color, they become one of the longest-lived bird species.

Strength

TruNature-Salmon
Salmon, known for their incredible tenacity and strength, fuel up on astaxanthin-filled microalgae just prior to starting on their journey upstream to spawn.

Nature is the best product development laboratory.

That is why Heliae's TruAzta production system is designed to mimic nature as closely as possible. H. pluvialis can be found in nature generating astaxanthin in rock water pools and puddles where the algae are stranded from the nutrients they require for growth. Our raceway ponds are giant versions of these puddles; fully exposed to the pristine Arizona sun. But we give nature a leg-up by enclosing these ponds in greenhouse-like structures. In this manner, we capture the streaming natural sunlight while maintaining our high culture purity standards. Astaxanthin production is stimulated with a lower risk of contamination.

Heliae is a leader in algae production technology. We have investigated many other methods of algae production. While other systems such as closed tank systems and glass tubes can be successfully utilized for production, we believe natural balance is key. Fully enclosed raceway ponds allow us to bring astaxanthin produced as close to the way it is found in nature while keeping our quality standards high, at a scale that you can rely on, and at a cost which makes it accessible to the masses.
